Innovation Design Consortium

What is Innovation Design Consortium

Innovation Design Consortium, or IDC, is a platform where we, leading industry design professionals, collectively develop key initiatives, tools and products for our profession.

The purpose of the consortium is to raise, budget, spend funds and enable collaboration in support and development of technology platforms/software, promotional or open-source activities relating to defining, promoting and improving technology and tools for the architecture, engineering and construction industry in four key areas: Performance and Sustainability, Data-sharing Platform, Operational Efficiencies, and Redefining Project Delivery.

Our Vision

Our vision is grounded in collaboration. We aim to advance technology platforms and enhance tools that serve the architecture, engineering and construction industry. The vision wheel outlines four key areas that drive our collective progress.

Initiatives

Our core initiatives span four focus areas: Data Sharing Platform, Performance & Sustainability, Operational Efficiencies, and Redefining Project Delivery. Each initiative comes with clear goals and future plans to drive industry transformation.

Join Us

We’re inviting up to 40 founding members to shape the future of this consortium. Participation in this initial stage is voluntary and open to all members who choose to sign a membership agreement. Founding members will become shareholders of the entity. After two years, the consortium will transition to a subscription model, allowing additional members to join.

We can make a bigger impact by pulling our resources together.

Steering Committee

IDC steering committee meetings are attended by 1-2 representatives from the IDC founding firms.

"In the first year, the IDC provided valuable quick reference guides on evaluating AI solutions and building policy as well as setting the stage for sharing custom developed tools. Perhaps the most impactful effort has been the pivot toward "Data and AI" orientation, literacy, and road mapping at the end of 2024."

Stephen Held | Leo A Daly

"The IDC efforts have provided clarity of direction both validating our current trajectory and providing insight on emerging technologies including AI – saving valuable research and development time."

Bob Rayes, COO | CIO | Corgan

"I’m excited about the opportunity in 2025 to establish a strong data strategy foundation for the IDC work going forward. This work will provide greater guidance to our project teams and solution designs to ensure we generate the most value. In 2024, I really enjoyed working with the Skills Framework team to design an initial skills framework aligned to a normalized set of roles believed to be usable by every IDC firm."
