Innovation Design Consortium and Autodesk Partner to Advance Data and AI Leadership in AEC

The Innovation Design Consortium (IDC) today announced that Autodesk has joined the consortium as a strategic partner. This collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to advancing data leadership, AI readiness and digital standards across the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
The IDC convenes senior leaders from forward-thinking AEC firms to define practical standards, shared language and measurable pathways for digital transformation. This is achieved through initiatives such as IDC’s Data and AI Literacy program, where the consortium supports firms in building foundational understanding while accelerating applied implementation. Autodesk’s partnership strengthens that work by aligning a leading technology platform with the IDC’s vision and allowing the IDC’s work to be implemented at scale.
Aligning Technology and Industry Leadership
“The partnership between Innovation Design Consortium and Autodesk represents a shared commitment to actively shaping the future of the AEC industry,” said Brooke Grammier, CIO at CannonDesign and Chair of the IDC Executive Committee. “Together, we are moving beyond incremental change to drive meaningful innovation so our firms can build smarter, faster and more responsibly. This collaboration is not just about adopting new technology. It is about redefining how our industry delivers value in a rapidly evolving world.”
The IDC was established to move the industry beyond isolated experimentation and toward coordinated, standards-driven progress. Through executive collaboration, structured working groups and applied education, the IDC equips firms to build sustainable digital capability and measurable AI maturity.
“Technology alone does not transform an industry. Alignment does,” said Bob Rayes, IDC Executive Committee Member and Chief Operating Officer of Corgan. “Autodesk has been a cornerstone of digital enablement across AEC. Formalizing this partnership strengthens the connection between platform innovation and firm-level execution. That alignment is what drives meaningful progress.”
As part of this partnership, Autodesk will participate in quarterly alignment sessions with IDC leadership, contribute to industry dialogue around standards and interoperability and collaborate with member firm subject matter experts on applied AI and data initiatives.
Advancing Responsible Innovation
IDC’s work is grounded in a clear principle. Innovation must be practical, measurable and scalable across firms of varying size and digital maturity. Our work with Autodesk creates a direct channel between executive leadership and technology strategy.
“The AEC industry is entering a new era where data, AI and connected workflows will define how we design and deliver the built environment,” said Amy Bunszel, Executive Vice President, Architecture, Engineering, and Construction at Autodesk. “Partnering with the Innovation Design Consortium allows Autodesk to collaborate directly with forward-thinking AEC leaders to advance scalable, real-world solutions that enable firms to innovate faster, collaborate more effectively and deliver better project outcomes.”
Together, IDC and Autodesk will focus on:
- Elevating industry-wide data literacy and AI readiness
- Supporting open standards and interoperability
- Encouraging measurable implementation of emerging technologies
- Strengthening collaboration between executive leadership and technology strategy
This partnership represents a deliberate step toward coordinated industry advancement, where technology innovation and firm leadership evolve together.
